DIVIDE AND DISSOLVE GRIEF

Revolutionary doom-metal project Divide and Dissolve share a cinematic visual for their emotive new snippet 'Grief'. Directed and edited by Sepi Mashiahof, the video for 'Grief' tells a multi-facted story in just under a minute and a half. Conveying feeling with a highly intentional sense of atmosphere, the mostly instrumental track is an ambient blend of resonant bass frequencies and indeterminate vocals. Whilst there's something uncanny and metallic about the production, perhaps most notably in the processing of those abstract whispers, the bottom end feels like a warm hug, enveloping you entirely. Lifted from their forthcoming album Insatiable, set for release via Bella Union on the 18th of April, 'Grief' is said to be one of the its quietest moments. Multi-instrumentalist and composer Takiaya Reed explains: “Most communication is nonverbal. We do not need words in order to convey our emotions. The fact that oppressive systems need to end—those emotions can be felt by so many people without explicitly saying it. People know it deep within themselves. I think there's a deep knowing, and hopefully the music explores this.” Listen and watch 'Grief' below as we await what's sure to be a stunning new album. -Holly Mullineaux
